My quill isn’t broken. My ink jar isn’t empty or dry. On this literary journey—aspiring to be as engrossing as Kongi or as imaginative as William Wordsworth—I’ve come to realize that taking breaks as a creative is often the best recipe for producing exceptional work. Just as muscles aren’t built in the gym but during rest, literary inspiration isn’t replenished while searching for the perfect words.
So, I’ve been resting—but not anymore.
A friend of mine recently posted a Haiku, and I loved it. It inspired me to expand it into something more than just a few lines. Within minutes, I crafted something I liked and read it over and over until it felt just right. I found a few more Haikus and repeated the process, realizing I could turn this into something more substantial.
And so, I’m introducing #HaikuSeriesByJaji, where I’ll take Haikus I find online and expand them into full-fledged poetry.
I hope you’ll enjoy reading them as much as I’ll enjoy writing them.
Peace, love, and poetry to you all.
