“The Open Secret: We’re All Using AI To Write”
Everyone who has heard about Generative AI…..USES GENERATIVE AI. Yes. I said it. Don’t let anyone lie to you. That 5,000-page report your boss is showing off might be the product of GROK, and of course himself too. A few months ago, I hired a short-term consultant to support my education data systems work. This person came highly recommended, and I had checked out some of her work online. All I can say is that she has been busy. At…

Using AI Agents To Supercharge RAG Applications
AI is not a buzzword. It’s not a phase that will go away after some time. It has become part and parcel of our day to day. In November 2024, three Google engineers, Julia Wiesinger, Patrick Marlow, and Vladimir Vuskovic, worked on a whitepaper titled “Agents”. The whitepaper first appeared on X (formerly Twitter) in the first week of January and AI developers have been busy discussing, digesting and even further expanding the discussions to include use cases that were…

#HaikuSeriesByJaji
My quill isn’t broken. My ink jar isn’t empty or dry. On this literary journey—aspiring to be as engrossing as Kongi or as imaginative as William Wordsworth—I’ve come to realize that taking breaks as a creative is often the best recipe for producing exceptional work. Just as muscles aren’t built in the gym but during rest, literary inspiration isn’t replenished while searching for the perfect words. So, I’ve been resting—but not anymore. A friend of mine recently posted a Haiku,…

The Ouaga Saga: Of Adamawa Memories, A Leaking Hell, Airport Detention And A One Night Spam
So I got detained at the international airport in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. I’ll tell you about it. I lived in the northern part of Nigeria for a few years. Mubi in Adamawa state precisely. I had some of my life’s best memories there. The friends that have now turned family, the Hausa and Fulfulde that I pretend to speak and understand, and the many nights of travel between Mubi and other neighbouring states (Maiduguri, Bauchi, Gombe). I still get flashbacks…

What Did Britain Look Like Before The Suffragettes?
Well, scratch that title. It’s not what this blog post is about. The truth is, since the start of 2024, every time I dipped my quill in ink, it dries up before I compose anything coherent. Ladies and gentlemen, I am experiencing the block. A few weeks ago, I was joking around with a friend about the thought pieces I should put out this year. About 7 of them. We bounced a few ideas around, in the hope that I’d…

Dear Teacher
This is not poetry to tell you how wonderful you have been How you have been a guide, and a light unto my feet This is not a poem to tell you about how well you have nurtured me Or how invested you have been in my well-being. This is not a poem to tell the world, that without you and your efforts And that without you and your sacrifices And that without you and your tears of love and…

Kapuula…! May it rain.
Kapuula…! May it rain. This is how greetings are done here. May it rain is a prayer, and a greeting too. The people of Botswana, like the rest of Africa, believe the rains are a blessing. When it rains, the farmers, who are the primary producers of food, are happy… So when you wish someone Kapuula, you are literally saying, “may you not go hungry”. So I went to pick my COVID test result today. As I exited the test…

White Paper Review: Gain Agility by Migrating ERP Workloads to Public Cloud Infrastructure
10 OCT, 2019 Lukman, J. Paper Source: http://secure.wis-digital.com/SAP_partner/2019_WhitePapers/Google_ERP_in_the_Cloud.pdf The word “cloud’ or “cloud computing” have become cliché, even amongst the not-very-tech-savvy. In the early days, cloud usually referred to as just storage alone. Today, we use the terms ‘cloud storage’ to refer to databases that exist in cloud servers and “cloud infrastructure” as hardware/virtual servers where applications can be run. In some quarters, this is referred to as Infrastructure as service. In addition, an entire software can also be housed…

White Paper Review: SYSPRO’s Executive Guide to Selecting and Implementing an ERP System
Lukman Jaji October, 2019 Paper Source: Source: https://www.syspro.com/dl/WP/SYSPRO-Executive-Guide-To-Selecting-Implementing-and-Operating-ERP-ALL-WP.pdf In recent times, many companies have come to the realization that operational proficiency correlates directly with the capability to automate core processes while minimizing human intervention. These core processes vary from one form of information management or the other. ERP systems help in automating core processes that would hitherto be extremely time consuming, less accurately, efficiently and effectively executed, and most importantly, would have required several hands to execute. The paper reiterates…
